Measure the diameter: Find the widest point of the stump at ground level and measure the diameter across that point.

    • Include bumps: If the ground is raised, extend your measurement past the rise to include the area that needs to be ground to a level grade.

    • Note irregular shapes: If the stump is not a perfect circle, measure both the width and length at their widest points to get a more accurate total.

  2. Measure the height: Use a tape measure to record the height of the stump from the ground up to its tallest point.

  3. Measure surface roots: Include any large, exposed surface roots that will also need to be ground away.

  4. Note access: Consider the access path for the grinding machine and note any obstacles like fences, walls, or narrow gates, as this can affect the cost. Our machine is 60" wide.

  5. Rocks, Metal Posts or Debris: These can cause damage and irregular wear on the machine. If the grinder come in contact with them. This can affect the cost.

  6. Calculate your total cost:

    - Standard stump grinding with the mulch is backfilled into the hole. Min $150 (covers the first 30" of grinding. Additional $5 per inch after that.

    - Stump Grinding + Removal of Mulch. $10 per inch

    - Stump Grinding + Removal of Mulch + Backfill with topsoil & grass seeding. $15 per inch
